Files can carry more information than the content you immediately see. This guide explains the practical details so you can choose what to keep, remove or verify before sharing.
Why sellers may care
Product photos can pass through phones, cameras, editing apps and design tools before upload. Device names, software fields, timestamps or GPS data may remain attached even though buyers never need that information.
Protect the useful original
Keep your full-quality originals in a private folder. Export a web-ready copy for the listing, remove unnecessary metadata from that copy, and preserve enough resolution for zoom and marketplace requirements.
Do not over-compress
Privacy cleaning and image compression solve different problems. Remove metadata first or during re-encoding, but avoid aggressive quality reduction that makes textures, edges or text look poor.
Use consistent naming
File names can also reveal internal information. Before upload, use descriptive product-oriented names rather than client names, order numbers or private project codes.
Use the relevant BeOutMeta tool on a copy of your file, then review the result before publishing or sending it.
