Files can carry more information than the content you immediately see. This guide explains the practical details so you can choose what to keep, remove or verify before sharing.
1–2: Metadata and GPS
Inspect the file for EXIF and GPS. Remove unnecessary metadata from a sharing copy when the recipient or public platform does not need it.
3–4: Visible clues and reflections
Look for addresses, street signs, IDs, screens, documents, school logos, vehicle plates and reflections. Crop or edit when appropriate.
5–6: File name and resolution
Rename files that expose internal information. Check dimensions so you do not accidentally share a full-resolution master when a smaller public copy would be more suitable.
7–8: Audience and verification
Confirm who can see the post or download, then inspect the exact final file before sending. Privacy is a workflow, not a single button.
Use the relevant BeOutMeta tool on a copy of your file, then review the result before publishing or sending it.
