Files can carry more information than the content you immediately see. This guide explains the practical details so you can choose what to keep, remove or verify before sharing.
Start from a master
Keep the high-resolution original outside the public web folder. Make a working copy so you can resize or convert without damaging the archive.
Resize for the actual display
Do not upload a 6000-pixel photo if the layout only needs 1600 pixels. A correctly sized image reduces transfer size and processing work.
Choose an efficient format
JPEG works well for many photographs, PNG for graphics that need lossless pixels or transparency, and WebP is a modern option with broad browser support. Test quality rather than converting blindly.
Clean and verify
Create the final encoded file without unnecessary source metadata, verify dimensions and visual quality, then use a descriptive public filename and appropriate alt text on the website.
Use the relevant BeOutMeta tool on a copy of your file, then review the result before publishing or sending it.
