PDF files can include document properties that are separate from the visible page content. Common fields include the title, author, subject, keywords, creator application and producer. These values may appear in a PDF reader's document properties panel, in desktop search indexes, or in document-management systems.
This tool lets you replace those common fields in a local browser workflow. It does not change visible text printed on a PDF page.
Removing metadata is useful when you want a neutral sharing copy. Editing is useful when the metadata has a legitimate purpose, such as publishing a report with an accurate title, author or subject. A clean and intentional metadata set can improve organization without exposing accidental details from the software that originally created the file.
Rewriting a PDF can invalidate existing digital signatures. Password-protected files may need to be unlocked in a trusted PDF application before they can be processed. Metadata is also different from visible information, annotations, embedded attachments and text inside the document.
No. The tool changes common document-property fields, not the visible page content.
Yes. Blank fields are written as empty values in the new PDF.
A rewritten PDF can invalidate an existing digital signature, so verify signed documents separately.
The core edit is performed in your browser for supported PDFs; the file is not sent to an application server for processing.
