The viewer reads common PDF document properties including title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, creation date and modification date. It also checks whether common XMP metadata, a document identifier and PieceInfo application-private data are referenced in the PDF structure.
Not every metadata field is a privacy problem. Some publishers intentionally use titles, keywords and author information. Viewing the current values first helps you decide whether to keep, edit or remove them.
A clean metadata report does not mean the document is anonymous. Names, email addresses, comments, photos, signatures and other identifying information may still be visible on the pages or stored in annotations and attachments.
